Third Seamer problem should be sorted in New Zealand

Former India pacer and one of my favourite cricket players, Javagal Srinath thinks that one of the important areas that India need to sort out on their tour of New Zealand is the third seamer. While hailing India’s opening pair of bowlers as the best in world cricket today, Srinath added that the third seamer has been a problem area for Indian cricket with any number of bowlers walking in and out of that slot.

The former India spearhead thinks that Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma have been doing a fabulous job for the team, inconsistenct performances by the third partner means that the two leading bowlers are being forced to take undue load. That will mean the two bowlers tiring out early.

While in the short term that has an immediate bearing on the current match, extra load also means greater chances of injury being caused to these bowlers, who are vital to the success of the team. Let’s hope that the team management will be able to sort out this issue during the tour of New Zealand.

The first India vs New Zealand match is on the 25th February. We will keep you updated here with the live cricket from the series, and also with info on live cricket streaming for the India - Newzealand series.
